Annual MHEA Art Contest

Art Contest Rules
Size - no larger than 24” x 30”.
Origin - All entries must be the original works of the students. Copies of published or unpublished works or photographs done by someone else will not be accepted. The work must have been completed within the last two years.
Medium - Any medium is acceptable. The artist is not limited to the following list but to spark the imagination... 2D examples might include paintings, drawings or collages in watercolor, oil, pastels, crayon, marker, pencil, etc. or mixed media. 3D artwork (sculpture) might include wood, metal, clay, found objects or mixed media. The Mid-South Fair no longer has separate art categories for drawing, painting, etc.
Theme - Any theme is acceptable (in good taste, of course).
Mounting - All paintings and drawings must be securely mounted on poster board or matted. Matting/poster board can extend NO MORE than three inches from the original art. No frames of ANY kind are allowed. Maximum size is 24 inches by 30 inches. The Mid-South Fair has changed the entry rules from previous years - stretched oil canvases are no longer allowed. The art is being displayed in a different manner and the stretched canvases kept falling down.
Identification - On the back of each entry in the lower right corner (or bottom in the case of a sculpture), record the artist’s name, address, phone number, grade, and Memphis Home Education Association. Each student may only enter in one grade level.
Entry fee - There will be a $2 fee per entry; you must be an MHEA member to participate. Awards will be presented to all participants. Maximum of two entries per student. MHEA can enter a maximum of two pieces per grade (but only 1 entry per student) in the Mid-South Fair. The entries will be determined at the discretion of the judges.
