Art Contest Rules
Please read VERY CAREFULLY as there are a number of changes this year. The Mid-South Fair has now re-located, so we will be putting our art into the Delta Fair and Music Festival located near the Agricenter. The Delta Fair gives cash prizes to the top six places in each grade level as well as a substantial Best of Show Award. Unfortunately, at this time, there are no categories in the School Art division for 3-D art (sculptures, pottery, etc.) or photography. Please make suggestions to Jan Hamilton (901-487-3075) at the Delta Fair if you would like these categories included in future years. She seems very open to accommodating our requests.
Origin -- All entries must be the original works of the students. Artwork must have been completed since September 1, 2010.
Theme -- Any theme is acceptable but must be viewable in accordance with family values.
Mounting -- All paintings and drawings must be securely mounted on poster board or matted. Matting/poster board cannot extend beyond three inches from the original art. No frames allowed. (This also means NO stretched canvases are allowed.) Maximum size of the artwork, including the poster board/mat, is 18 inches by 24 inches. No 3-D art will be accepted.
Identification -- On the back of each entry in the upper right corner, record the student's name, grade, and Memphis Home Education Association, making sure it does not show through to the front. Grade level can be the student's grade for the 2010-2011 year. Each student may only enter in one grade level.
Entry Fee -- Entry fees are now included in your MHEA annual membership so there is no fee per entry. You must be an MHEA member to participate. Awards will be presented to all participants. Maximum of two entries per student. MHEA can enter a maximum of two pieces per grade (but only 1 entry per student) in the Delta Fair. The entries will be determined at the discretion of the judges. Local homeschoolers can enter this type of artwork in the Delta Fair only through a homeschool association.
