Students in grades 4-6 are invited to participate in The Math League Contest this year. The Contests challenge students to demonstrate their understanding of basic principles through numerical and word problems which encourage an open, flexible approach to problem solving. Each contest consists of 30 - 40 multiple-choice questions which can be completed in 30 minutes. On each three-age contest, the questions on the first page are generally straightforward, those on the second page are moderate in difficulty, and those on the third page are more difficult. We encourage everyone to try these fun, short contests! The winner from each grade will receive a book of previous math contests published by the Math League. These books are full of fun problems! The names of the highest scorers in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades inthe region will be published on the Math league website and in their school report newsletter, as well as the News & views. The top five scores form the MHEA Contests will be used to calculate our MHEA "Team Score" which will be compared to other schoo.s participating in the region.
