Only Shelby County residents will be allowed to participate in this bee. Words for grades 1-5 will come from a general spelling book. No practice lists are provided by MHEA. You may go to www.spellingbee.com for resources for grades 6-8 (click on the "students/parents" tab then "study tips" then follow the instructions to link to Spellit). The Commercial Appeal no longer provides study materials. The words asked in the spelling bee will NOT be limited to the words found in the online resources.
Each grade will compete consecutively. The schedule for the spelling bee times are approximate, of course. Be sure to arrive and check in at least 15-30 minutes before your child's grade is scheduled to begin in case the time ahead of you is shorter than expected.
