MHEA’s goal is to provide a school-level competitive athletic program which is high quality and Christ-honoring for area homeschool students. MHEA Sports are financed by the participants, although many fundraising projects are available to offset the cost. All MHEA sports participants must be MHEA members.
From the beginning to advanced archer, classes and leagues are available. Classes start mid to late January and continue through July for ages 9 – high school seniors.
Boys Varsity and Jr. High teams have tryouts in early fall and the season runs through May. The team plays approximately 30 games a season with practices 3 times a week. Building fundamental baseball skills alongside Godly character is the focus of this program.
MHEA sponsors Varsity boys and girls and Junior High boys and girls competitive basketball teams: the MHEA Lady Eagles and MHEA Eagles. Practices usually begin at the end of the summer, with games starting in October and going through March. Games are scheduled with private schools and other homeschool associations. MHEA is a member of National Christian Homeschool Athletic Associations, and participates in annual end-of-season tournaments. Our teams have been quite successful, all placing within the top ten nationally for the last few seasons. Varsity players have the opportunity to letter in basketball, and a few of our graduates have been offered college scholarships.
MHEA has Jr. High and Varsity Cheerleading Squads, which cheer for the MHEA basketball teams. Our cheerleaders support the basketball program through encouragement and service. They participate in National Cheerleading Association summer camp. Varsity cheerleaders have the opportunity to letter in this sport.
MHEA sponsors a bowling league that is open to MHEA member children age 5 through high school senior. The league is both competitive and fun. High School (Varsity) bowlers are eligible to earn Varsity Letters. The league is handicapped for bowlers of all skill levels and is divided into 5 age-based divisions. Currently, competition is limited to internal league play within each division, whereas we do not compete against other schools or leagues. The league begins in the fall, usually early September, and continues into late April, with a break at Christmastime. There is a Christmas party and an end-of-year party where all bowlers receive trophies and prizes and Varsity Letters are awarded. This program focuses on Christian sportsmanship, building fundamental bowling skills, and having fun and fellowship with other homeschoolers. Previous bowling experience is helpful, but not necessary, and the use of bowling equipment is provided. Come join us, make some new friends, and have some fun!!
The MHEA Eagles Swimming programs offer great opportunities for homeschool students of all ages to develop their swimming talents.
